LIFETIME BREEDER SUPPORT
The foundation of a healthy kitten begins with careful attention to breed-specific needs, health screening, and preventive veterinary care. A happy, well-adjusted kitten is the result of early socialization, gentle handling, and a safe, stimulating environment. At Witchwood Cattery, we ensure every kitten receives this foundation—through regular grooming, appropriate nutrition, playtime, and clean living conditions—before they leave for their new homes. We also encourage new owners to continue this care, providing love, routine health checks, and a nurturing home where their kitten can thrive.
Lifetime Guarantee Against Hip Evaluation , Ophthalmologist Evaluation and Patella Evaluation
As responsible breeders, we have taken every possible step to raise healthy kittens to join loving families. All our kittens are carefully screened and are free from common ailments that may affect the breed. However, there are certain things we, as breeders, cannot guarantee for our kittens.
Our guarantee is that we have provided proper care and thorough health checks, and we stand behind our kittens against any major health issues or life-threatening conditions at the time of adoption.
Please don’t confuse typical breed characteristics or common issues with problems caused by breeding practices. We provide detailed information about what is normal for the breed, as well as health and physical conditions that can occur and are unrelated to the breeding process.
It’s important to understand that no kitten can be guaranteed to be 100% free from developing health issues later in life. Once your kitten leaves our care, maintaining their health is your responsibility.
This may involve regular veterinary visits and sometimes medical treatments. We are always here to support you and answer any questions, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Our guarantee and your commitment .
The breeder certifies that upon receipt, the kitten is in good health and has been vaccinated and de-wormed according to the accompanying health records.
The buyer agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian at their own expense within 5 working days of receiving the kitten. Failure to do so will void this health guarantee.
We guarantee the kitten for one (1) year against fatal and life-altering congenital diseases that significantly affect the kitten’s health. This guarantee covers severe conditions such as hip dysplasia (that impairs movement and requires surgery), and serious kidney, heart, pancreas, spine, or liver disorders.
If the kitten passes away within this period, the buyer must have a necropsy (autopsy) performed at their expense to determine the cause of death. The breeder reserves the right to seek a second veterinary opinion at their expense. Shipping the kitten back for replacement is the breeder’s responsibility.
If the cause of death is confirmed as one of the covered conditions, the breeder will replace the kitten from another available litter.
Note: This guarantee does not cover conditions commonly considered normal in the breed, such as cherry eye, entropion, skin allergies, elongated soft palate, stenotic nares, overheating, or heat exhaustion.
The buyer agrees to notify the breeder immediately if the veterinarian does not give the kitten a clean bill of health. The breeder reserves the right to have the kitten re-examined by their veterinarian at the breeder’s expense.
The buyer agrees to accept responsibility for breed-related issues that are not life-threatening and are easily treatable. These issues include, but are not limited to: cherry eye, entropion or ectropion, stenotic nares, skin allergies, localized demodex, and heat intolerance. Conditions warranting the return of the kitten include, but are not limited to: severe hip dysplasia, generalized demodex, seizure disorder, or heart defects. We will not be responsible for any veterinary bills incurred. Kittens must be examined by a veterinarian within 5 working days of purchase or the health guarantee will be voided. Kittens are guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase.
If a kitten is found to have a condition warranting its return, the buyer’s veterinarian must send a certified letter, signed and dated, documenting the non-treatable defect or illness. The buyer must not provide this letter directly to us, as doing so may jeopardize the return process and void the health contract. The letter must include the veterinarian’s name, address, and telephone number. No cash refunds will be given for returned kittens. The kitten will be replaced with another kitten of equal value, same sex, and color if possible, within one calendar year of the return or from an upcoming litter.
Kittens that have been injured or exposed to contagious diseases are not returnable. The buyer agrees to provide proper housing in a clean, climate-controlled environment, as well as vaccinations, de-worming, heartworm prevention, appropriate socialization, veterinary care, food, and fresh water. The kitten will have received at least one vaccination and been de-wormed. No replacement will be offered in the case of Parvovirus.
If the kitten is found not to be in good health upon examination, the breeder will resume possession if agreeable to both parties. Heat stroke, exhaustion, dehydration, and other heat-related conditions are not covered under this guarantee.
